Rosylin Doris Becker Whitt

Rosylin Doris Becker Whitt of Haskell, Texas, passed away in the early hours of Saturday,  January 6, 2024 at the age of 83.

Rose was born in Haskell, Texas on February 20, 1940 to Harold and Katherine Becker. She was the eldest of six children and was raised on the farm until the family moved to Austin, Texas in the mid 1950's.

Rose married and had a daughter, Deborah Diane whom she loved dearly. In 1973, her son Michael Shane was born. She was crazy about Shane and loved to dress him up and take him out to visit family and friends.

She had two grandchildren, Shayne Ryan and Courtney.  They were the light of her life.  Early in their lives, Shayne Ryan and Courtney lived right next door to Grandma and Grandpa's house. It was not unusual to see the two of them running through the gate between the two houses as soon as the sun came up. They loved their grandparents dearly and were very fortunate to have had such a long and loving relationship.  Her two great grandchildren, Asher and Brinley, although still very young, were also very involved with their great grandma and were always asking to see her.  Brooklyn Rose, who is to be named for her great grandma will arrive in March.

Rose is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Whitt, her parents, her youngest brother Jerold, and her youngest sister, Bonita.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie Holmes and spouse Brian, her son Shane Whitt, her grandchildren Shayne Ryan Whitt and partner Kaitlin, Courtney Whitt and partner James,  her great grandchildren Asher and Brinley, her brothers Alex and Alvin, her sister Anita and many more family and friends.

A visitation will be held at the Smith Family Funeral Homes in Haskell, Texas on Saturday, January 13, 2024  at 1:00 p.m., followed by Graveside services at the Willow Cemetery, also located in Haskell at 2:00 p.m., with Mr. Tim Johnson officiating under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell.
