A visitation is planned from 5:30-7:00 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2017, at the funeral home, 304 N 2nd St., Haskell, TX.

Mildred Rowena Hester was born on February 27, 1922 in Knox City to Ivy and Clara Cypert. She married Floyd "Bobby" Hester on March 19, 1941 in Haskell. They were married for 69 years before he went to be with the Lord in 2010. They were avid gardeners and shared their bounty with many family and friends. After moving to Haskell in 1974, they helped form a canasta group that still meets today.

Family was the center of Rowena's world. She loved and spent as much time as she could with her family, often taking the grandchildren to the family cabin at Lake Fort Phantom for fishing, food, and games. There was always laughter and love when the family was together. That legacy has continued through to many beautiful great-grandchildren. Her amazing cooking was always present at family functions and will continue to be shared through the recipes that she has passed down.

She is survived by her two sons, Jerry Hester and wife Wanda of Weinert, and Billy Wayne Hester and wife Sheila of Rochester; four grandchildren, Laurie Irby and husband Paul of Tuscola, Wayne Hester and wife Tricia of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Michael Hester and wife Leslie of Caldwell, and Shelly Hall and husband Patrick of Sealy; ten great-grandchildren, Ashton and Seth Irby, Micah, Reece, and Kyler Hester, Trinity, Gracie, Faith Rowena Hall(her namesake), Wyatt and Warren Hester; sister, Dorthy Brown of Munday; three sister-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ivy and Clara Cypert; husband, Floyd "Bobby" Hester; grandson, Stacy Hester; two sisters; and five brothers.

She was a very special person who will be missed by many family and friends.
