Roy Dean Smith

Roy Dean Smith, 90, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Rule, Texas with Rev. James Jackson officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Rule. A visitation is planned from 6:00 to 7:00pm, Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the funeral home, 600 Robins Ave., Rule, Texas.

Roy was born November 26, 1933 in Knox County, Texas, to Ira Lessie and Gladys (Day) Smith. He married Shirley (Davis) on June 14, 1953 at the First Baptist Church in Rule, Texas. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Rule, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Smith of Rule; son, Bobby Don Smith and wife Norva of Rule; daughter, Lisa Miller of Abilene; 5 grandchildren: Hollie Gonzales, Christopher Bartley and wife Jendy of Eastland, Joshua Smith and wife Destiny of Abilene, Keli Lawson and husband Wade of Buffalo Gap, Callie Bolls and husband Clark of San Angelo; 14 grandchildren, Brayden Smith, Jaxon Gonzales, Eleanor Bartley, Taylor Smart and wife Rebecca, Trent Smart and (Tori Hobbs), Tanner Smart, Payton Smith, Stone Smith, Laisyn Smith, Kade Lawson, Krew Lawson, Kobi Lawson, and Emerie Bolls.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Lessie Smith, and one brother, Donald Kent (Speedy) Smith.
