Ruben F. Hernandez, Sr.

Ruben F. Hernandez Sr., 73, of Munday, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., at the Rochester Cemetery. Deacon Mike Hernandez will be officiating under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Rochester. Rosary will be held at St. George Catholic Church in Haskell, Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.

Ruben was born in Stanton, Texas on February 9, 1950 and resided in Munday, Texas at the time of his death. Throughout his life, Ruben had a passion for spending time with his family and friends, he loved fishing, loved his cold beer, listening to some good o' music and cooking out. Ruben worked most of his life as a farmer. For the past 3 years, he worked for J-D Wrecker in Munday, Texas.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Carmen Hernandez; sisters, Maria Leal and Gloria H. Susa, along with numerous nephews.

Those left to cherish his memories include the mother of his children Joann Hernandez of Midland, Texas; 6 children, Benny Hernandez (Monica Reyes) of Odessa, Texas, Connie Salinas of Midland, Texas, Ruben Hernandez Jr. (Emealda) of Midland, Texas, Bobby Hernandez (Maggie) of Midland, Texas, Deacon Mike Hernandez (DeeAnn) of Midland, Texas, Sandra Olgin (Ruben) of Midland, Texas; grandchildren, Sebastian, Nehemiah, Alexander, Andrew, Mathias, Katalina, Beniah, Carmen, Mariza, Samantha, and Victor; great-grandchildren, Jason, Wyatt, Noelle, Emily, Ezra, Josiah, Desmond, and baby Almanza; sisters, Guadalupe Lomeli (Leo Salinas) of Rochester, Texas, Gregoria DelaCruz of Hamlin, Texas, Janie Carrillo of San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Robert Hernandez (Emma) of Rochester, Texas, Andres Hernandez Jr. (Maria) of Rochester, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
