Ruby Irene Barbee

Ruby Irene Barbee longtime resident of Rule, passed away early Monday morning, July 9, 2012 in Abilene. Mrs. Barbee was 87.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Church of Christ in Rule with Mr. John Greeson officiating. Burial will be at Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Ruby Irene Anderson was born December 2, 1924 in Knox County to Lem and Allie Mae (Singleton) Anderson. She married James R. Barbee on July 9, 1943 in Haskell County. Ruby enjoyed cooking and crocheting and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Rule.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James R. Barbee; a sister, Doris Tooley; and a brother, Tommy Singleton.

Ruby is survived by her 3 sons, Jerry Barbee and wife Karen of Nevada, Donny Barbee and wife Diane of Lubbock, and Larry Barbee and wife Tommi of Haskell; 1 daughter, Jami Anders and husband Steve of Abilene; a sister, Opal Yarbrough of Imperial, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
