Rubye Marie (Rainey) Wooten, 94, a longtime resident of Haskell, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Haskell, TX. Burial will take place immediately following service at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, August 31, at Smith Family Funeral Homes in Haskell, TX.

Rubye was born December 18, 1921 to Luther Lee Rainey and Minnie Lee (Baldock) Rainey. She graduated from Weinert High School in 1939. She attended Hardin-Simmons University and graduated August 19, 1947 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with minor in English and Economics. She married Wallace Wooten on May 29,1948 in Haskell, TX. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Haskell, TX and played the piano for the Business Men's Class. Rubye was a teacher at Mattson ISD, bookkeeper at Wooten Oil Co., Haskell, TX, and nursery worker at First Baptist Church, Haskell, TX. She was a great wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt. She loved all of her family and worried and rejoiced with them.

Rubye is survived by her husband, Wallace Eugene Wooten of Haskell,TX; two daughters, Paula Annette Wooten of Stamford,TX and Katie June Nemir of Haskell,TX; grandson, William Walton Bronson Cruz of Haskell,TX; and granddaughter, Hannah Gretchen Jordan of Abilene,TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther Lee Rainey and Minnie Lee (Baldock) Rainey; son, Walton Eugene Wooten; sisters, Ara Elsie "Babe" and her husband Jesse Drinnon, Verna Estelle "Vernie" and her husband Aubrey Swailes and Willie Mae and her husband Elmus Swailes; brothers, Jonathan Russell and his wife Hazel Rainey, Eulice Fields and his wife Margaret Rainey; and son-in-law, Andrew Kipling "Kip" Nemir.
