Runez Easterling Atkinson

Runez Easterling Atkinson, 90, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm, at the Willow Cemetery in Haskell, Texas. Mr. Truman Murphy will be officiating under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A visitation is planned from 1:00pm until service time at the funeral home, 304 N 2nd Street, Haskell, Texas.

Runez was a member of the First Baptist Church in Haskell, Texas. She graduated from Haskell High School in 1954, where she was on the Pep Squad from 1950 to 1954, Reporter 54, Librarian 51-52, and FHA 50-54. She enjoyed living alongside her siblings and going fishing together. She loved watching humming birds and cardinals, shopping, and embroidery.  Her favorite foods were homemade ice cream and Tommy's fried catfish.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Atkinson and wife Debbie of Woodson, Texas; two daughters, Debbie Cornelius and husband Tommy of Malakoff, Texas, Trisha Barton and husband Mark of Collinsville, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Buddy Atkinson, Brandy Spencer, Crystal Worth, Brandon Cornelius, Tasha Norman, Chasity Barton; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Donald Easterling; two sisters, Evelyn Pittman and Marjorie Dunlap; three brothers, Doyce Easterling, Jack Easterling, and Kenneth Ray Easterling.

Memorials can be shared in Runez's name to St. Judes Children Hospital.
