R.W. Aycock, 93, a long time resident of Haskell, TX, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2017 at the Knox City Cemetery, Knox City. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 5:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the funeral home, 304 N 2nd St., Haskell, TX.
R.W. was born January 23, 1924 in Knox City, to Rollie Harriot (Simmons) and James Benjamin Aycock. R.W. served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He enjoyed gardening, and doing woodwork. He was a hard worker, working for Haskell County doing road maintenance all over the county.
He is survived by seven nieces, Linda Burks, Janice Francis, Cora Murdoch, Debbie Brister, Joann Hebert, Nadine Kolterman, and Kathy Aycock; six nephews, Jimmy Aycock, Bob Aycock, Ray Howell, Ronnie Aycock, Larry Aycock, and Alan Aycock; and numerous great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rollie and James Aycock; two brothers, J.W. Aycock, and Bill Aycock; and three sisters, Faye Sheets, Stella Story, and Oleta Aycock.
