Sally Boyd

Sally (Bishop) Boyd of Throckmorton, TX, Age 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 7, 2023 in San Antonio, TX. She was born on October 16, 1932 in McCulloch County ("The Heart of Texas") to David Gaston Bishop Sr. and Jessie Lee (Stuart) Bishop.

Sally married her college sweetheart, Bobby Boyd on February 25, 1951 in Brady, TX where they enjoyed 70 years of marriage until his passing in 2020.

Surrounded by farming, livestock, ranching and horses, her mother and father dug out a LEGACY of family values and TRUE GRIT that still lives strong in all of us today!  She was a real life "Cowgirl" literally learning to ride a horse before she could even walk. To say she grew up on a horse is no exaggeration. She was a great cook of classic southern style food and desserts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter LeAnn Boyd Crim, her parents, and her brothers Walter Scott Bishop, Billy Joe Bishop, and David Gaston Bishop Jr.

Survived by her sons, Tommy Boyd and wife Sheree, and David Boyd; 8 grandchildren, Josh Boyd, Zachary Boyd, Hudson Boyd, Sydney Boyd, Pammy Boyd, Annie Ortega, Bobby Crim, Chris Crim; 7 great-grandchildren; son-in-law Sterling Crim; and her sisters-in-law Maxine Bishop and Ladelle Boyd.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Red Oak Memory Care of San Antonio – and their staff Jose, Lillian, and Brenda, for their support and comfort to the family and the excellent care they provided Sally in her final years.

Funeral services for Sally Boyd will be held at 2 pm Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Throckmorton, with Pastor Bobby Crim officiating. Interment will follow at the Throckmorton Cemetery, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Throckmorton.
