Sarah Ruth "Dear" Jackson, 93, passed away early Friday morning, July 6, 2012 at Throckmorton County Memorial Hospital in Throckmorton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Throckmorton with Rev. Peter Parker officiating. Burial will be at Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Sarah Ruth Blair was born to Rufus Fredrick Blair and Sarah Josephine (Bell) Blair in Throckmorton on Monday, August 26, 1918. She lived her entire life in Throckmorton never moving more than 5 miles from her birth place. She married Archie Jasper Jackson on February 27, 1934. "Dear" was a homemaker, but also worked in the hospital kitchen for over 15 years. She loved cooking, sewing, and helped at the church whenever and however needed. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Throckmorton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Sarah Blair; husband, Archie Jackson; grandson, Dee Jackson; and 2 brothers, John Blair and Cleveland Blair.
"Dear" is survived by her 2 sons, Freddie Harrell Jackson of Throckmorton, and Robert Jackson and his wife Maxie also of Throckmorton; 3 grandchildren, Kathy Jackson, Kim Leo, and Renee Gober; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Jackson are Jeff Mathews, James Gober, Austin Jackson, Allen Bell, Joe Self, Ronnie Jackson, and Alton Blair.
Memorials can be given in Mrs. Jackson's honor to First Baptist Church, 211 N. Minter, Throckmorton, TX 76483; Throckmorton Senior Citizens; or Throckmorton Ex-students Association.
