Selma Martha Follstaedt

Selma Martha (Steinfath) Follstaedt, 94, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Haskell with Rev. David White officiating. Burial will take place following the services at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned for Friday evening, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home in Haskell located at 304 N. 2nd Street.

One of eleven children, Selma was born March 26, 1920, to Selma (Rueffer) and August Steinfath in Throckmorton, Texas. She graduated high school and went on to business college and soon became a secretary for the Texas Welfare Department where she eventually retired. She married Martin Follstaedt on June 20, 1946, and they made their home in Haskell. Mrs. Follstaedt was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Follstaedt; her parents, Selma and August Steinfath; 4 brothers, Willy, Fritz, Henry, and August Steinfath; 3 sisters, Frieda Steinfath, Anna Kretschmer Goebel, and Alma Zelisko.

Selma is survived by her son, David Follstaedt and wife Diane of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Janet Follstaedt of Dallas, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Andrew and Melanie Follstaedt of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Susan and Jon Trow of Silver Springs, Maryland; 1 great-grandchild, Karley Follstaedt; 2 sisters, Minnie Blair and Lena Steinfath; and one brother, Albert Steinfath.
