Silverio "Cheve" Baiza, 93, a longtime resident of Rule, TX, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00a.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the St. George Catholic Church, Haskell with Father Chacko Thadathil officiating. Burial will follow services at Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Rule. A Rosary is planned for 7:00p.m., Monday, November 4, 2019, at the funeral home, 600 Robins Ave, Rule, TX.
Silverio "Cheve" Baiza was born June 20, 1926 in Ranger, TX, to Theresa and Apolonio Baiza. He married Pascuala (Vargas) in 1956 in Haskell, TX and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage together. He was a very hard working man. He worked at Lisle Gin and then worked for Leonard drilling until he retired in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, Pascuala Baiza of Rule; 3 sons, Robert Baiza and wife Rosemary of Joshua, TX, Ramiro Baiza of Rule, and Santos Baiza and wife Theresa of Rule; 1 daughter, Rebecca Arrieta and husband John of Anson; 8 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 7 sisters, Jovita, Tina, Ricarda, Manuela, Isabella, Petra, and Anita; and 1 brother, Isabel.
