Stanley Dee Glover, 88, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015, at his residence in Avondale, Colorado. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Benjamin, Texas with Rev. Fred Stice officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Benjamin Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Stanley was born on May 17, 1929, on the Beavers Ranch in Knox County to Roy "Fred" Glover and Mary "Thelma" (Powers) Glover. He lived in Knox County until 1957. Early on, the family lived on the League Ranch, later on McFadden's Mashed O. In the late 1940s, the family bought a ranch near Castle Rock, Colorado. Stanley went back and forth from Texas to help in Colorado. His career showing horses began when he went to work for Jimmie Randals in Montoya, New Mexico in 1957. Jimmie was raising top halter and performance horses and showed them extensively. In 1961, Stanley went to work for Dutch Watters in Cheraw, Colorado. There he continued training and showing Quarter Horses. He went out on his own in 1964 near Falcon, Colorado. He was also standing several stallions.
In 1971, Stanley married Beverly Jane (Bolton) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Stanley moved his operation to Oklahoma in 1984. He returned to Colorado in 1994 and remained in the Pueblo area the rest of his life. He began seasonal work with the Ute Mountain tribe in the Four Corners area in 1996 and continued through 2014. He worked with cattle every where he went. Stanley was a top cowboy, cowman and horseman, and held judge's cards for NCHA, AQHA, PHBA and APHA, and made 21 AQHA Champions and was in the NCHA top ten twice.
Stanley is preceded in death by his parents, Roy "Fred" Glover and Mary "Thelma" (Powers) Glover; and brother, Carroll Glover.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Bolton) Glover of Avondale, Colorado; son, John Dee Glover of Avondale, Colorado; two step sons, Doug Bryant and wife Kathy of Crawford, Colorado, and Charlie Bryant of Dubois, Wyoming; grandchildren, Hunter Bryant and Joshua Bryant both of Crawford, Colorado.
