Sue McMeans, longtime resident of Haskell, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Mesa Springs in Abilene at the age of 91. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 10, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Rule. Burial will take place immediately following the services at Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Sunday evening, August 9, from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Haskell located at 304 N. 2nd Street.

Sue was born February 4, 1924 in Haskell, Texas, to Charlie and Beulah Quattlebaum. She graduated from Haskell High School and worked for Perkins-Timberlake. Sue was a retired bookkeeper and served briefly as County Tax Assessor-Collector in the late 1960's.
Sue married T.B. (Buddy) McMeans, Jr. on March 11, 1944 and they had three children, Janis Lowack, Max McMeans and Thomas McMeans. She was a member at the First Baptist Church
in Rule, and she loved working in the yard.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Beulah (Hayes) Quattlebaum; her husband, T.B. "Buddy" McMeans, Jr; sister, Maxine Quattlebaum Caperton; and a grandson, Heath McMeans.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Janis Lowack and husband Alden of Old Glory; two sons, Tom McMeans and wife Judy of Ft. Worth, Max McMeans and wife Doris Jean of Haskell; grandchildren, Bobby Lowack and wife Kim, Ricky Lowack, Kent Leatherwood and wife Tracey, Todd Leatherwood and wife Dana, Misty Gibson and husband Paul, Melissa Bull and husband Clay, Randy Phemister and wife Lori and Rick Phemister; great-grandchilden; great-great-children; and nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be given in Sue's name to the First Baptist Church, 1001 Union Ave, Rule, Texas 79547, (940) 997-2321.
