Thomas "Tommy" Edward Boyd

Thomas Edward "Tommy" Boyd, age 77, died Thursday, October 25, 2012, at his residence in Throckmorton, Texas. Funeral Services will be Sunday, October 28, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Throckmorton with burial in the Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Tommy was born April 11, 1935 in Knox City, Texas to Thomas E. and Louise (Grable) Boyd. He attended McMurry College in Abilene, Texas where he played collegiate basketball, graduating in 1958. In the fall of 1958, he began his career in education in the Throckmorton school system as a coach, teacher and principal until his retirement in 1979. He then returned to the school system in 1988 and 1989. He purchased Throckmorton County Abstract and Liles-Boyd insurance in 1979. He was also active in the farming and ranching business. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He married Ladelle Liles on March 10, 1962 in Throckmorton, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Louise Boyd.
Survivors include his wife, Ladelle Boyd of the home: Daughter, Janet Kothmann and husband Kody of Lubbock, Texas; Son, Glenn Edward Boyd and wife Kyndle of Throckmorton, Texas; Brother, Bobby Boyd and wife Sally of Throckmorton; 4 grandsons, Wilks, Kip, and Kody Thomas (K.T.) Kothmann and Parker Boyd.
