T.J. Brueggeman, 88, a lifelong resident of Haskell Co., TX, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, Haskell with Bro. Dan Bullock officiating. Burial will follow services at Willow Cemetery, Haskell under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00p.m., Friday, February 9, 2018, at the funeral home, 304 N 2nd St., Haskell, TX.
T.J. was born March 15, 1929 in Irby Community, to Cleo (Zelisko) Brueggeman and Shorty Brueggeman. He served in the Unites States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Haskell. His passion was fishing.
He is survived by his three sons, Terry Brueggeman and wife Debora, Gary Mayfield and wife Cindy, and Forrest Mayfield and wife Margaret; daughter, Paula Myers and husband Harlan; nine grandchildren, John Paul Weaver, Marcus Weaver, Jay Mayfield, Stacy Mayfield, Melissa Mayfield, Nicholas Mayfield, Christopher Brown, Cyle Brown, and Caleb Whitfield; 18 great grandchildren, Jack Weaver, Sam Weaver, Max Weaver, Anna Weaver, Zachary Mayfield, McKenzie Gemilli, Ellen Mayfield, Hunter Jervis, Jace Mayfield, Shyler Mayfield, Rilee Mayfield, Travis Mayfield, Johnathan Brown, Nathaniel Brown, Zachary Campbell, Brooklyn Brown, Benjamin Joseph Gonzales, and Carter Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cleo (Zelisko) Brueggeman; father, Shorty Brueggeman; wife, Doris Catherine Brueggeman; brother, Louis Brueggeman; sister, Isabelle Lehde; and 2 infant sisters, Martha Elizabeth, and Mary Elizabeth.
