Tommie O. "Bud" Reynolds

Bud Reynolds died on July 3, 2021, in Hamlin, TX at the age of 90. A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM, Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Foursquare Church, Knox City, with Rev. Gary Schnable officiating. Burial will follow services at Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00PM, Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the funeral home, 210 Ave A., Knox City.

Bud was born at home in Knox City, TX on October 27, 1930 to Roy and Grace Reynolds. He spent most of his life in Knox City, only moving away for the U.S. Navy, two short transfers with West Texas Utilities, and a few months in Hamlin, TX.

Bud graduated as salutatorian from Knox City High School in 1950. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served in the Korean War until 1954, when he was honorably discharged.

Bud met a pretty girl the evening of the Knox City tornado in 1953, as he carried her across some water Her name was Sequoyah Harden and they married December 16, 1954. They were married for 66 years.

Bud worked for West Texas Utilities for forty years, retiring in 1990. He then worked post-retirement for Smith Family Funeral Homes. Het took pride in both jobs, especially WTU.

Bud knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and served him faithfully, raising his family to know Christ and to serve him faithfully. He loved attending church camp and the Walk to Emmaus.

Bud was ornery, had a great personality, and was well-liked around the Knox City area. He was a member of the Knox City Fire Department from 1958 to 2021. He was awarded the E. Hob Smith Memorial Award for Knox City's "Most Appreciated Citizen" in 1994 and he served as the Mayor of Knox City from 1995 to 2001.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Cleo Collins and husband Willie, Christine Poteet and husband Harley, and Pat Strahan and husband Howard; brother, Harvey and wife Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Sequoyah of Hamlin; two sons, Harvey Wayne and wife Wendy of Shawnee, OK, and Billy Bob and wife Cindy of Hamlin, TX; two daughters, Rita and husband Morris of Brownsville, TX, Linda and Leonard Howard of Haskell, TX; 10 grandchildren, Kursten and husband Kendon of Hamlin, TX, Keegan and wife Lauren of Hamlin, TX, Brooks of Mountain Home, AR, Kaitlyn and husband Zachary of Tecumseh, OK, Eli and wife Sheri of Oklahoma City, OK, Joy and husband Aaron of Midwest City, OK, Kaylie of Hawley, TX, Bridgett and Colton of Burkburnett, Destini and husband Robert of Vernon, TX, and Schelby Houck of Alexandria, LA; and 16 great grandchildren.

Bud had many nieces and nephews that were faithful in checking in on him and mom regularly along with an extended family that reaches from Knox City, to Haskell, Wichita Falls, Sweden and other countries in Europe.
