Travis Lee Solomon

Travis Lee Solomon, 84, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at Haskell Memorial Hospital in Haskell.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2014 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. J.C. Amburn and Rev. Mark Greenroy officiating.  Burial will take place immediately following at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.  Visitation is planned for Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home located at 304 N. 2nd Street.

Travis Lee was born June 2, 1929 in Haskell, Texas to Essie Mae (Littlepage) and Travis Lee Solomon, Sr.  He married Alma Lou Reid at the First Assembly of God Church in Haskell on July 16, 1950.  Travis retired from Pogue's Grocery Store in Haskell.  Many remember Travis as the loyal, hard-working grocery clerk that served families in the community for many years.  He later worked for MHMR in Haskell.

Travis loved working in his yard and was a committed member of the First Assembly of God Church where he faithfully served as Deacon and song leader.  He will be remembered in the community as a God fearing, kind, gentle soul.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Essie Solomon.

Travis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alma Lou Reid Solomon; 3 daughters, Judy Callaway and husband Hollis, Becky Howeth and husband Bobby, Leisha Greenroy and husband Mark; grandchildren, Cole Callaway, Andrea Mao, Rusty Howeth, Bucky Howeth, Promise Greenroy, Tanner Greenroy; Great-Grandchildren, Emeri Callaway, Allison Callaway, and Tyler Callaway.  He is also survived by his sister, Zella Moeller; brother, J.C. Solomon and wife Joan; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Cole Callaway, Rusty Howeth, Bucky Howeth, Tanner Greenroy, Chanda Mao, and Eugene Gibbs.
