Valentina Navarro

Valentina Ponce Navarro, 83, a lifelong resident of Breckinridge, TX, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Visitation will be held January 27, 2017, 5:00-7:00 PM followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM at the Smith Family Funeral Homes Chapel in Throckmorton, Texas. Funeral services will be held in Throckmorton at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 28, 2017, in the Smith Family Funeral Homes chapel with Father Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in the Throckmorton Cemetery.

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Valentina Ponce Navarro was born February 14, 1933, in Breckenridge, to Manuel Ponce and Rosa Rey Ponce. Valentina married Ray Navarro in 1988 in Breckenridge. She loved being around her daughter, son-in-law, five grandchildren, family members, and friends. Her hobbies were watching western movies, playing with her puppy Canela, and she especially enjoyed eating out and sleeping. She worked in several places as a seamstress, but she especially enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Breckenridge.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Corona Guardiola and husband Jesus of Breckenridge; five grandchildren, Sarah Guardiola of Houston, Andrea Tanfield and husband Mike of Leander, Teresa Guardiola of Breckenridge, Jesse Guardiola of Breckenridge, and Elizabeth Guardiola of Palmview; numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Valentina is preceded in death by her husband Ray Navarro; her parents, Manuel and Rosa Ponce; three brothers, Jesse Ponce, Sr., Raymond Ponce, and Henry Ponce; one nephew Russell Ponce; one beloved Chihuahua Chata.
