Van F. Moses, a life long resident of Elbert, TX, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Elbert Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Light officiating. Burial will follow services at the Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the funeral home, 107 N Austin, Throckmorton, TX.
Van was born June 22, 1928 in Elbert, to Lorene (Williams) and Erskine Moses. He married Veoma Sloan on June 15, 1946 in Graham, TX.
He is survived by his two sons, Jay L. Moses and wife Nan of Coleman, and Van A. Moses and wife Jan of Elbert; five grandchildren, Lacy Ruempolhamer, Jacy Russell, Tyler Moses, Russell Moses, and John Moses; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Burl Moses and wife Frances of Throckmorton; three sisters, Pat Reedy of Mineral Wells, Melinda Noble and husband Roy of Ft. Worth, and Sharon Noble of Bedford; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Lorene (Williams) Moses; father, Erskine Moses; and wife, Veoma (Sloan) Moses.
