Vera Mae Reid, life-long resident of Knox City, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the age of 64. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Knox City, Texas under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Internment will be scheduled for a later date.
Vera was born August 11, 1951, to Douglas Eugene Conwell and Daisy Mae (Taylor) Conwell. She married Rick Reid on February 12, 1977, in Amarillo, Texas. They have been married for 38 years and made their home in Knox City, Texas. Vera was a chairperson at the Circle of Friends Knox Texas Extension Education Association for 25 years. She served 6 years in U.S. Army. Vera was very talented when it came to arts and crafts and enjoyed making things around christmas time.
She is preceded in death by her father, Douglas Eugene Conwell; and sister, Connie Conwell.
Vera is survived by her husband, Rick Reid of Knox City, Texas; three brothers, Billy Conwell of Amarillo, Texas, Darrell Conwell and Jonathan Conwell both of Canyon, Texas; sister, Doris Armstrong of Poteau, Oklahoma; mother, Daisy Conwell of Canyon, Texas; aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
