Vernay Andress

October 30, 1929 — March 17, 2015

Vernay Andress, lifelong resident of Haskell, Texas, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Haskell Memorial Hospital in Haskell at the age of 85. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Eastside Baptist Church in Haskell with Reverend Terry Bunch officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the services at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Wednesday evening, March 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home located at 304 North Second Street.

Vernay was born October 30, 1929, in Haskell, Texas, to Beno Andress and Opal (Lackey) Andress. On May 6, 1949, he married Myrl (Kirkland) Andress in Haskell, Texas. Vernay is a member at the Eastside Baptist Church and Haskell Bass Club. He loved to go fishing and gardening.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Beno and Opal Andress and three brothers, Melvin Andress, Ray Andress, and Dave Andress.

Vernay is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Myrl Andress of Haskell, Texas; one son, Charles Dean Andress and wife Laura of Haskell, Texas; one brother, Boyd Andress and wife Patsy of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Bennie Shelton and Wanda Cheek both of Haskell, Texas; three grandchildren, Jeremy Andress and wife Jodi of Haskell, Texas, Joseph Andress of Haskell, Texas, and Jennifer Andress of Marble Falls, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Adam Andress, Allie Andress, and Abby Andress all of Haskell, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers are William Kirkland, Charles Kirkland, Scott Langford, Matt Langford, Tim Shelton, and Johnny Kirkland. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the members of the Sunday School Class at Eastside Baptist Church.
