Vickie Irene Dean, 92, of Haskell, Texas passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Willow Cemetery in Haskell with Rev. Tony Grand and Rev. Kelly Russell officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home

Vickie Irene Turnbow was born in Hohenwald, Tennessee on October 29, 1920 to Minnie (Dobbs) and George Turnbow. Many will remember the beautiful girl with the blonde hair that sat at the ticket booth for the Texas Movie Theater in Haskell. Vickie enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing along with family camping. She loved her friends, her church, and her community. Vickie was a long time devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Haskell.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Minnie Turnbow; husband, Jesse Dean; 2 sisters, Oca Karr and Whitney Johnson.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Jo Ann Hannsz and husband Greg of Abilene, Carol McNair and husband Mark of Vernon; son, Bobby Dean of Haskell; 5 grandchildren, Tiffany Hannsz, Dustin Hannsz, Amanda Lee, Dakota McNair, and Sheridyn McNair; 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

If desired, memorials can be given in Vickie's name to Buckner Baptist Children's Home, 5200 S. Buckner Blvd., Dallas, TX 75227; Gladney Center for Adoption, 6300 John Ray Drive, Ft. Worth, TX 76132; or Hendrick Home for Children, 2758 Jeanette St., Abilene, TX 79602.
