Viola Hurt, 67, a longtime resident of O'Brien, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016, in Abilene. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 28, 2016, at the Foursquare Church in Knox City with Rev. Gary Schnable officiatiing. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City.
Viola was born January 12, 1949 in South Bend, Indiana to Viola May and Arthur E. Temple. She married John Hurt in Mexico, July 6, 1971. She loved her horses and dogs.
She is survived by her husband John Hurt of O'Brien; daughter, Bobbie Joe Sandoval of Rochester; three sons, Ronnie Hurt of Whitney, Donnie Hurt of Morristown, TN, and Alvah Overmyer of Knox City; a special grandson, John Maingot of Mountain Home; sister, Sue Ann Marks of South Bend, IN; brother, Pat E. Temple of New Carlisle, IN; thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Misty Amber Sanders; and brother, John Temple.
