Virginia Leta Hines formally of Odessa, Texas passed away Friday afternoon, September 6, 2013 at Heritage Oaks Nursing Facility in Arlington, Texas. Mrs. Hines was 90. A private family graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Willow Cemetery in Haskell, Texas. Arrangements were made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes of Haskell.

One of 4 girls, Virginia Leta Waller was born July 17, 1923 in Seagraves, Texas to Georgia Mae (Hill) and Robert R. Waller. Leta married Jake R. Hines on May 31, 1941 in Seagraves. Leta and Jake owned and operated a service station in Odessa for many years where Leta served as the bookkeeper. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Odessa.

Leta is preceded in death by her husband, Jake R. Hines; her parents, Robert and Georgia Waller; and 3 sisters, Jo Orr, Fay Copeland, and Bobbie Ruth Irwin.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Robert W. (Bob) Hines and Jerry W. Hines; 4 grandchildren, Tonya Clark, Mark Hines, Kelli Userton, and Tina Peoples; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 special nieces, Renia Smith and Lori Mize; and several other nieces and nephews.
