Wanda Andress (Langford) Cheek went to be with her Lord and Savior on, Thursday, April 1, 2021. She was 86 years old. She was born on April 24, 1934 in Haskell County to Beno and Opal Lackey Andress. They were charter members of the East Side Baptist Church in Haskell, Texas where her dad served as deacon.
She married Harley Langford in 1951 and had four children, Lonnie, Penny, Scott, and Matt. That marriage dissolved. On January 18, 1985 she married Edgar Gerald Cheek and received two daughters, Marvette Warren and Saundra Collins and another son, William Cheek. She was happily married until Gerald's passing on February 28, 2014.
Wanda loved the Lord and she loved her family. She enjoyed hunting with her husband Gerald. They hunted in Haskell, New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona. They would travel to Elk Camp in Flagstaff, Arizona to meet her brother and other family members who lived in Arizona.
She was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weinert.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald, her sons Lonnie Langford and William Cheek, her daughter, Penny Langford, her brothers, Melvin, Dave, Ray and Vernay and one sister Bennie Shelton.
She is survived by her children: sons, Scott Langford and wife Betsy of Haskell, Matt Langford of Haskell, daughters: Marvette Warren and husband Buddy of Baird, and Saundra Collins and husband Ronny of Baird. She has one surviving brother, Boyd Andress and wife Patsy of Everman, TX and sister in law, Myrl Andress of Haskell. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. There are also some very special friends, Birdie Goudeau and the Bruce Water's family.
The family will be receiving visitors at Scott and Betsy's house, 904 N. 3rd St., Haskell, TX.
In lieu of flowers, give to the charity of your choice, her favorite was the West Texas Rehab in Abilene, Texas.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Monday, April 5, 2021, at the First Baptist Church, Weinert with Bro. Dan Bullock officiating. Burial will follow services at Henson Family Cemetery in Red Spring, TX under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00pm, Sunday, April 4, 2021 at the funeral home, 304 N. 2nd St., Haskell, TX.
