Wanda Poteet

Wanda N. Poteet (Tibbets), age 85, of Forest, Virginia went to be with our Lord on August 19, 2021. She was born in Rochester, Texas on January 14,1936 to James and Willie Tibbets and was the youngest of 5 children. Wanda graduated from Rochester High School where she enjoyed participating in volleyball and basketball. Following graduation, she was employed at Lone Star Gas Company but her favorite occupation was as a bank teller. Wanda loved to visit with family, friends, and even strangers. She had a heart for stray animals and tried to rescue as many as she could. Wanda loved tending to her flower beds, was an avid reader and Dallas Cowboys fan.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents James and Willie Tibbets; brothers Ambrose, Leslie, and Donald; sister Leone Strickland. She is Survived by her loving husband Harley Gene, her children Kevin Madina (Julie), Kami Scott (Jim), Brad Poteet, and Steve Poteet (Gaylen), as well as her 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 2 ^nd at 2pm. The event will be held at the Rochester Fire Department.
