Wilda Medford, 88, lifetime resident of Haskell, Texas, passed away peacefully at his residence Thursday, February 4, 2016.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Haskell, Texas with Pastor David Johnson officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Friday evening, February 5, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m, at the funeral home located at 304 N. 2nd Street, Haskell, Texas.
Wilda was born December 18, 1927, in the small community of Paint Creek, Texas to Edmund and Ima (Andress) Medford. Wilda married Anita Jo (Pitman) on November 20, 1949 in Haskell, Texas at the First United Methodist Church where he has been a member since 1957. Wilda and his wife, Anita, owned and operated Medford Buick Pontiac in Haskell for forty-eight years. Wilda served on the Board of Directors for the Haskell National Bank for twenty years. He was also a member of the National Automobile Dealers Association, the Pontiac Dealer Council, and the Haskell Jacyees. Wilda served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was part of Operation Crossroads. He was a private pilot and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edmund Emory Medford and Ima Lee (Andress) Medford.
Wilda is survived by his wife, Anita Medford: daughter, Amy McKnight and her husband, Rob, of Haskell; son, Eddie Medford and his wife, Sue, of Haskell; three granddaughters: Katie Negen and her husband, Chris, of Lubbock, Texas; Mollie Young and her husband, Chance, of Royse City, Texas; and Paige Sagon and her husband Greg, of Keller, Texas; great-grandchildren, Hooper and Adelaide Sagon of Keller.
