William Eugene "Bill" Leach, life-long resident of Knox City, Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at the age of 83. A Graveside service will be held at Knox City Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 11, 2015, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation will take place Saturday, October 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. located at 210 Ave A, Knox City, Texas.
Bill was born on February 6, 1932, in Perryville, Arkansas, to John Edgar Leach and Myrtle Gracie (Horton) Leach. He was a graduate of Knox City High School and married Ruth Landreth on October 22, 1951, in Goree, Texas. Bill served in the United States Army and worked at Hunt Oil in 1999 until he retired. He enjoyed playing forty-two, gardening, working in the yard and loved to sing.
He is preceded in death by his son, Larry Gene Leach, infant son; parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Edgar Leach; two sisters, Marie West and Minnia Lea Buchanan.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ruth Leach of Knox City, Texas; three daughters, Karen Leach of Plainview, Texas, Diana Ainsworth and husband Ronnie of Knox City, Texas, and Stacy Hedgecoke of Knox City, Texas; son, Kevin Leach and wife Stacia of Haskell, Texas; six grandchildren, Chad Richardson, Nathan Hedgecoke, Carrie Karr, Noah Hedgecoke, Brady Leach and Hayden Leach; four great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Allan, Kaylynn, and Zoey; brother, Jimmy Leach and wife Bobbie of Midland, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
