Zelma Mae Alvey, 68, long-time resident of Throckmorton, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Breckenridge, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2016, at the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Throckmorton, Texas. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home. Visitation is planned for Sunday evening, May 8, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home located at 107 North Austin, Throckmorton, Texas.
Zelma was born on August 16, 1947, in Throckmorton, Texas, to Floyd Whitfield and Estelle (Pittman) Whitfield. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Whitfield and Estelle Whitfield, and two brothers, Billy and Wesley Whitfield.
Zelma is survived by her son, Jason Alvey of Throckmorton, Texas; daughter, Tonya Boggs and husband Clint of Breckenridge, Texas; two grandchildren, Leigha Riddle and husband Cody of Breckenridge, Texas and Jeremy Crane and wife Tiffany of Breckenridge, Texas; eight great-grandchildren; five brothers, Doyle Whitfield of Throckmorton, Texas, Frankie Whitfield and wife Minerva of Throckmorton, Texas, Cotton Whitfield and wife Lorretta of Escanaba, Michigan, Dean Whitfield and wife Lenora of Seminole, Texas, and James Whitfield and wife Laquita of Midlothian, Texas; two sisters, Flonell Pritchard and husband Bill of Hobbs, New Mexico and Jeannie Herod of Eastland, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
