Zilda Benavides, 55, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at Haskell Memorial Hospital in Haskell, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2016 at St. George Catholic Church in Haskell, Texas with Father Angelo Consemino officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A Rosary is planned for Wednesday evening, January 27, at 6:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home located at 304 N. 2nd St., Haskell, Texas.
Zilda was born July 2, 1960, to Amandor M. Benavides, Sr. and Angelica (Perez) Benavides. She lived in Denton most of her life and moved to Haskell in 2011. She enjoyed dancing.
She is preceded in death by her father, Amandor Benavides, Sr.
Zilda is survived by her mother, Angelica Benavides of Haskell, Texas; three sons, Javier Tafolla, Bennie Tafolla and Valintine Tafolla; two daughters, Rosalinda Martinez and Amelia Tafolla; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great- grandchild on the way; two sisters, Elsa Rodriguez and husband Amado, and Emlyn Escobedo and husband J.R..; four brothers, Amandor Benavides, Jr. and wife Linda, Pablo Benavides, Joe Benavides and Hilbert Benavides; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
